Cooking 101: Cake Balls
A few weeks ago, I came across a blog entry on how to make Cakeballs. I thought it would be fun to do with my little Fullers. So, last week, we made cakeballs. It was an adventure to say the least bit.
First, you make a cake. We used a cake mix, because that's how we roll around here. Now, we do occassionally make a cake from scratch and I have the baking powder in my spice cabinet to prove it.
Don't forget to lick the spoon!
When the cake is finished, dump it into a large bowl and squish it up to make cake crumbs. Then, add a tub of frosting and stir. If your two-year old eats half of your frosting just grab the Hershey's cocoa from your spice cabinet and whip up a batch of frosting!!
The result is kind of mushy but oh so good!! Next, using a scoop so the size of the cakeballs is uniform, roll the mixture into balls.
Place on a baking sheet.
Then, wash your hands!
Place the pan into the freezer for about 15 minutes so the cakeballs get firm.
Next, melt some chocolate, NOT Almond Bark or CandiQuik Coating.
Dunk the cakeballs into the chocolate and place on waxed paper.
You can drizzle more chocolate over them while they are still moist or use sprinkles to decorate them.
Enjoy!
