It was a ZOO!!!
Last week the little Fullers were all out of school for Spring Break. We were invited to go to the ZOO on Friday with sweet friends. So, we loaded up bright and early on Friday morning and headed south.
We had a fun day and all the children enjoyed seeing real, live animals.
First, we saw the giraffes. We were amazed at how close they were to us.
Then we walked to the elephants.
The little girl in the middle is G. She is Sarah Belle's friend from Sunday School.
The elephants were also very close to the viewing area. They were BIG!!
This is the matriarch of the herd.
This is the baby:
Next was a photo opportunity in the chimpanzee exhibit. This came about since the chimps didn't want to see humans on the particular day that we visited.
Luke wanted to aggravate the pretty little girls and mess up their picture!
Finally, he was distracted and G smiled.
This was Luke's finest photo of the day. He is sitting inside a bronze sculpture of a Mama chimp lying on her back playing with a baby chimp.
Then we saw the lions.
I feel as if I achieved photographic greatness with this picture. The Daddy Lion was lying down in the back. Just as he lifted his head, I was ready with my finger on the shudder button to snap the perfect picture.
Next was the monkeys. I chose to take a picture of my own little monkey instead of the real monkeys we came to see.
And, because of my Florida upbringing, I just had to take a picture of the beautiful, graceful flamingos.
I'm really sorry about the fence being in the picture. But, if it were not for that fence, I would now be the proud owner of a flamingo. I have always liked the flamigos.
Then we ate lunch. Now, eating lunch at the zoo is no small feat. Here's how you do it:
1. Send the men into the AIR-CONDITIONED building to stand in line.
2. Circle the outside tables waiting for someone to finish their meal so you can have their table.
3. When you spot someone about half-finished, you politely ask, "Would you mind if we stand here next to you so we can have your table?" They are happy to oblige.
Then we rode the carousel.
Sarah Belle and G aren't smiling yet because the carousel had not startedgoing round and round yet.
That's G's PaPaw standing between them. He' a very nice man.
Anna Brooke rode the giraffe. It is the only animal on the carousel that doesn't move up and down. Since she is skittish about such things she was happy to ride the giraffe.
Luke was a wild man all day. At first, he wanted to ride the giraffe, but whn he learned it did not go up and down he traded with Anna Brooke. He like the action!
There were no pictures of Paul on the carousel since a bigger, stronger kid beat him to the animal right next to his sister.
Then my camera battery died.
THE END.
