Change of Scenery

We are enjoying the Fall weather here in North Carolina. This is one of the blessings of living in this part of the country; four seasons! In my childhood Florida there was summer, one month of Fall, one month of winter, and one month of Spring; then back to summer again. I'll bet my Mom wore shorts to the polls this morning.

Anyway, my foyer now looks like this:

Luke is so proud of himself! I'm not sure what it is supposed to be. He says he wanted the foyer to look pretty.

The back yard looks like this:


Absolutely beautiful!! This is the reason we have no window coverings in our bathroom upstairs or in the kitchen or patio doors downstairs. Every morning as I stumble into the bathroom with one eye open I utter thanks to sweet Jesus for giving this view to enjoy every time I wish.

Note to self: Make sure both eyes are open in the morning....

You are so right I did wear shorts today but not to the polls as I voted one day last week. Around the bay and the fish pon looks like your back yard now Love you mom

I love North Carolina! Its so beautiful...almost as much as Tennessee...hahah! Its so nice to read about you and your beautiful family Laura! Its Leigh Garrett here, well I used to be Leigh Antley but I got married. I have a beautiful little girl Lizzie..short for Elisabeth Amber...shes a carbon copy of ME..

Happy Birthday Paul!!

On Valentine's Day 2007 Patrick and I decided that we would not get each other a gift. This was the first time we had made such a deal. I did pick up a card for him and filled it out. Valentine's Day was on a Wednesday and we really didn't see each other much until after church that night. He came home exhausted. We had our little family of five all together in the Family Room and I handed him his card. I had signed it the way I usually do with an extra note on the very bottom: P. S. Baby Boy due to arrive in September. (Now, I didn't know for sure he was a boy, but I had a feeling) Patrick FELL INTO THE FLOOR!! Fast forward 7 months. Hello There! There is something that has bothered me for years. I have begun to do better, and encouraged others to change their ways. This is it... Why do people almost always compliment little girls on their appearance first? Little girls are held to a higher standard in regard to their appearance and little boys are held to a very low standard regarding their behavior. This baffles me. I know you've heard it, probably even done it.  What's the first thing most people say to a little girl? "You're so pretty!" "Your dress is so pretty!" Why not compliment how compassionate & respectful she is because you just witnessed her let an older person get on the elevator first? Brave because you see the band-aid on her arm from a doctor visit? Smart...maybe she has a book in her hand! Funny...did she just tell the best joke you've heard all week? Creative...does she have an ornate hairstyle?  Or an outfit you would have never ...
