For the Record
For those of you readers who do not know my husband is the pastor of a growing, regional church in the Piedmont Triad area of North Carolina. We have been joyfully serving this church for a little more than 2 years and have loved every day!
Well, a few weeks ago, there were several visitors all clustered together in the middle section. We knew who these guests were: the brother of a member, a new beau, etc... It just so happens that all these people were sitting in the same general area.
Case in point: several members have asked Patrick since then (about 2 weeks) if it was a Pastor Search Committee!! His answer of course, has been, "No." Then he proceeds to tell the inquirer who all those people were.
Now, you can just imagine how the rumors have been flying these couple of weeks. We personally think it is hilarious!!
Two things you must understand from the Pastor's point of view:
1.) It is not very nice of a search committee to show up unannounced.
2.) It is not polite of them to come to the church one is currently serving!
And, we would not consider even talking to a committee that did such.
To all my church peeps who read this: My funeral will be held at Southside!
I'm not going anywhere.
