Snow Day

It snowed in FullerTown last night! This was the scene around here last night.

Patrick always puts bowls out to catch the snow so he can make snow creme.Photobucket
(For those of you wondering, yes, he is wearing pajama pants!)

Paul even took a little walk onto the patio this morning.

We went into the front yard to build a snowman:

He has pieces of hamburger steak for eyes and a carrot for a nose. He doesn't have a mouth. Hope he doesn't get hungry...

I walked the girls to the corner on the sled.

Luke tried to use the disc sled as a snowboard.

Anna Brooke did not want to wear a coat so that everyone could see her scarf and boots.

Daddy resorted to the sandcasle technique to build a snowman.

Zoya was pulling Anna Brooke on the sled. She slid off of the sidewalk and strattled the neighbors mailbox!

The children got into the back of Daddy's truck and threw snowballs at me!

Daddy used the yard rake to gather up enough snow to form the base of the snowman.

Happy Birthday Paul!!

On Valentine's Day 2007 Patrick and I decided that we would not get each other a gift. This was the first time we had made such a deal. I did pick up a card for him and filled it out. Valentine's Day was on a Wednesday and we really didn't see each other much until after church that night. He came home exhausted. We had our little family of five all together in the Family Room and I handed him his card. I had signed it the way I usually do with an extra note on the very bottom: P. S. Baby Boy due to arrive in September. (Now, I didn't know for sure he was a boy, but I had a feeling) Patrick FELL INTO THE FLOOR!! Fast forward 7 months. I was very busy getting ready to open WEE Love Academy, the weekday preschool ministry at church. I was thinking that I would get the Preschool started a few weeks then the baby would come. Hello There! There is something that has bothered me for years. I have begun to do better, and encouraged others to change their ways. This is it... Why do people almost always compliment little girls on their appearance first? Little girls are held to a higher standard in regard to their appearance and little boys are held to a very low standard regarding their behavior. This baffles me. I know you've heard it, probably even done it.  What's the first thing most people say to a little girl? "You're so pretty!" "Your dress is so pretty!" Why not compliment how compassionate & respectful she is because you just witnessed her let an older person get on the elevator first? Brave because you see the band-aid on her arm from a doctor visit? Smart...maybe she has a book in her hand! Funny...did she just tell the best joke you've heard all week? Creative...does she have an ornate hairstyle?  Or an outfit you would have never ...
