In My Shoes...

This past weekend the girls found my bin of shoes that I don't wear that often. You know, all the colored ones? Some of these shoes do not fit due to gaining a few pounds during 4 pregnancies.

The girls had fun walking around FullerTown wearing Mommy's shoes.

I've never really considered myslf to be a "shoe person." But, I guess the simple fact that I have about a dozen pair of shoes that I only wear maybe once every couple years makes me guilty!

Happy Birthday Paul!!

On Valentine's Day 2007 Patrick and I decided that we would not get each other a gift. This was the first time we had made such a deal. I did pick up a card for him and filled it out. Valentine's Day was on a Wednesday and we really didn't see each other much until after church that night. He came home exhausted. We had our little family of five all together in the Family Room and I handed him his card. I had signed it the way I usually do with an extra note on the very bottom: P. S. Baby Boy due to arrive in September. (Now, I didn't know for sure he was a boy, but I had a feeling) Patrick FELL INTO THE FLOOR!! Fast forward 7 months. Hello There! There is something that has bothered me for years. I have begun to do better, and encouraged others to change their ways. This is it... Why do people almost always compliment little girls on their appearance first? Little girls are held to a higher standard in regard to their appearance and little boys are held to a very low standard regarding their behavior. This baffles me. I know you've heard it, probably even done it.  What's the first thing most people say to a little girl? "You're so pretty!" "Your dress is so pretty!" Why not compliment how compassionate & respectful she is because you just witnessed her let an older person get on the elevator first? Brave because you see the band-aid on her arm from a doctor visit? Smart...maybe she has a book in her hand! Funny...did she just tell the best joke you've heard all week?
